Perebi Georgian Choir
Perebi is a mixed-voice choir in Oxford dedicated to the rich singing traditions of Georgia. Launched in October 2025, the group is open to singers of all genders and levels of experience, and focuses on the inclusive, social spirit at the heart of these powerful, close-harmony songs.

The name Perebi, meaning ‘colours’, reflects the blending of different voices into one shared sound. It suggests unity within diversity; a simple image for a choir where many parts combine in harmony.

The repertoire includes folk songs rooted in everyday life and seasonal cycles: weather and agricultural rituals, birth songs, Christmas and Easter music, and table songs sung at feasts. Recognised by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage, this tradition features ringing chords, drones, and unexpected dissonances; music that is felt as much as heard.

The choir is directed by Holly Taylor-Zuntz, a Natural Voice leader who spent several years living and learning in Georgia with local tradition bearers. Holly uses somatic vocal practices, making the music feel accessible, physical, and alive for community singers. Having studied the Georgian language and travelled across the country, she brings cultural context and stories to every song. Holly runs workshops and weekend courses, as well as singing holidays to Georgian villages. She is the co-host of the Voices of the Ancestors Podcast about Georgian songs (www.voicesoftheancestors.co.uk).

New members are warmly welcome to join the choir; see hollytaylor-zuntz.com for more information.
