SUMMARY:The Portraits with support from Dom Prag
LOCATION:Harwell Village Hall High Street\, Harwell\, Oxon OX11 0EX
DESCRIPTION:We are thrilled to bring The Portraits back to Harwell, this time as a head
line act.\n\nAnglo-Irish Acoustic Pop duo The Portraits, aka husband and wi
fe songwriters Lorraine and Jeremy Millington from Galway and Bristol respe
ctively, reached no 2 on the main iTunes chart, and no 24 on the Christmas
Day UK Ocial Charts Company Download Chart in December 2020 with their vers
ion of ‘Together In Electric Dreams’ featuring a locked down choir and orch
estra from Somerset, UK. It was released in memory of all those lost during
the pandemic of 2020 and was featured on ITV’s This Morning, BBC Radio 2’s
Steve Wright In The Afternoon and Channel 5’s Jeremy Vine, and received th
e backing of Stephen Fry, Midge Ure, Matt Lucas and a host of well-known fi
gures.\n\nJeremy and Lorraine Millington met in 1995 when working as second
ary school teachers on the Isle of Wight. Their life together has taken the
m to years spent in Bristol, London and most recently, Wells in Somerset, f
ollowing eight years soaking up the culture and lifestyle of La Rochelle in
France, where they moved in 2002 and where they were welcomed into a local
community of folk singers of French, British and Irish origin, centred aro
und the town’s Corrigans pub. This had a significant influence on the Milli
ngtons, leading them to experiment with a far more stripped back, straightf
orward songwriting model, influenced by the French storytelling ‘chanson’ s
tyle.\n\nSince 2006, when they launched their first new music under the mon
iker The Portraits, they have released 8 studio albums and a handful of sin
gles, performed numerous times at Glastonbury Festival and have donated muc
h of their proceeds from CD sales and concerts to a school in Burma/Myanmar
that they have supported for nearly 15 years.\n\nSupport is from up and co
ming Dom Prag who recorded his latest album with the help of none other tha
n Phil Beer (Show of Hands).\nTickets from http://www.wegottickets.com/sct/
